Alta Cellular Shades Upgrade for a Drafty Pleasantville Home

Top Down Bottom Up Cellular Shades in Living Room

From Open Views to Cozy Comfort

In Pleasantville, NY, a young couple with a newborn faced a unique window dilemma. Their charming bay window offered expansive views of the sky and surroundings, but it also exposed them to the bustling street below and the elements. The elevated position of their home meant they didn’t require complete privacy, but they did seek a balance—shielding their new baby from the street’s view while maintaining the serene sky vistas. Moreover, the older bay window allowed cold air to seep in during winter and let in excessive heat during summer, raising concerns about energy efficiency.

Tailored Solutions for a Young Family’s Unique Needs

Understanding the family’s priorities, Westchester Window Fashions recommended Alta cellular shades with top-down/bottom-up functionality. This design would enable them to lower the top portion of the shade, blocking the street view, while keeping the upper section open to enjoy the sky views. The cellular construction of the shades offers insulation, addressing the drafty window issues and enhancing energy efficiency. When complete privacy or intense sunlight control was needed, the shades could be fully closed, providing maximum light control and comfort.

Project Highlights

Custom-Fitted Design: Alta cellular shades tailored to fit the bay window configuration perfectly.
Top-Down/Bottom-Up Functionality: Allows versatile light control and privacy without sacrificing views.

While the exact project cost isn’t specified, the value lies in the tailored solution that addresses both functional and aesthetic needs.

A Transformed Living Space with a Newborn

The installation of Alta cellular shades brought immediate benefits. The family enjoyed the desired privacy from the street below while still basking in the expansive views of the sky. The insulating properties of the shades helped maintain a comfortable indoor temperature, reducing the need for constant heating or cooling. This not only enhanced the family’s comfort but also contributed to energy savings. The sleek design of the shades added a modern touch to the bay window, elevating the overall aesthetic of the living space.
