Westchester Window Fashions

Honeycomb shades in Briarcliff Manor, NY: Westchester Window Fashions was brought in during the final phase of a complete home renovation in Briarcliff Manor, NY. Two guest rooms were the last spaces to be finished, and the homeowners had a clear set of priorities – something that looked beautiful, functioned well, and didn’t blow the budget after a major renovation spend. Honeycomb shades in Briarcliff Manor, NY turned out to be exactly the right answer for everything they were asking for.

We selected a soft white and a linen-woven fabric across the two rooms, giving each space its own subtle texture while keeping the overall palette cohesive with the home’s freshly renovated interior. Honeycomb shades – also called cellular shades – are built with a unique air-pocket cell structure that insulates the window opening, keeping rooms cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. The light filtering fabric diffuses sunlight beautifully without blocking it entirely, creating a warm, even glow that makes a guest room feel welcoming at any time of day. Hunter Douglas Duette Honeycomb Shades represent the gold standard in this category, and the performance these homeowners are getting reflects exactly that.

The result is two guest rooms that feel finished, polished, and comfortable – rooms that guests will actually want to sleep in. Functional, energy-efficient, and genuinely beautiful without requiring a luxury budget. That’s the goal every time. Pro Tip:

In Westchester homes – especially older colonials and tudors common throughout Briarcliff Manor – window openings can vary significantly in size and shape from room to room, even within the same renovation. Honeycomb shades are one of the most forgiving products we install because they cut to exact width and drop, so every window gets a precise fit regardless of how irregular the opening is. If you’re finishing a renovation and working with a tight budget on the window treatments, honeycomb shades give you the most performance per dollar of anything we carry.

Are honeycomb shades worth it for guest rooms in a Westchester home?

Yes – and they’re one of our most recommended options for exactly that use case. Guest rooms need to handle variable light conditions, maintain comfortable temperatures for different seasons, and look polished without demanding a top-tier budget. Honeycomb shades deliver on all three. The cellular structure insulates the window opening, the light-filtering fabric keeps the room comfortable and private, and the clean finish looks intentional in any renovation.

What window treatments work best for energy efficiency in Westchester, NY?

Honeycomb shades – also called cellular shades – are the most energy-efficient soft window treatment available. Their air-pocket cell construction creates a thermal barrier at the window, which matters in Westchester where summers run hot and winters get genuinely cold. For homes in towns like Briarcliff Manor that see real seasonal temperature swings, honeycomb shades are the practical and beautiful solution.

Honeycomb shades are also easy to live with. Cordless lifts keep the room clean and safe, the fabric wipes or dusts clean, and the cells keep temperatures steadier near windows in older and newer homes alike. We bring samples to your home so you can compare light-filtering and blackout choices against your own walls and furniture before you decide.

The U.S. Department of Energy notes that cellular shades can cut solar heat gain by up to 60 percent. See our cellular shades page for the range, or compare roller shades.
