Motorized Woven Wood Shades in Briarcliff Manor, NY

Westchester Window Fashions

Motorized woven wood shades in Briarcliff Manor, NY: Westchester Window Fashions was brought into a sitting room that stopped us in our tracks. Bold color choices, original artwork, completely custom furniture every element of this space had been selected with the kind of intention that makes a room genuinely memorable. The window treatment had to clear an exceptionally high bar. These motorized woven wood shades in Briarcliff Manor, NY were the only product on the table that could hold their own in a room built at this level.

The woven wood fabric we selected brings natural texture and visual weight to the windows without competing with the artwork or furniture already commanding the room. A light filtering liner was added to manage the afternoon sun – this sitting room gets strong western light in the later hours, and without the liner that sun would wash out the colors and overheat the space. With it, the afternoon light diffuses into the room in exactly the way good design requires present, warm, and flattering rather than harsh. Woven wood shades are one of the few window treatment categories that function as a genuine design element, and Alta’s woven wood collection gives us the range of texture and tone to match virtually any interior vision. Motorization keeps the operation seamless – no hardware visible, no cords interrupting the aesthetic, just clean lines from every angle.

The sitting room is complete. Every detail considered, every element earning its place. That’s modern contemporary design done right and the window treatment is no longer the thing that almost got overlooked. Pro Tip:

In a room with bold colors and strong artwork, the window treatment needs to do one of two things – either disappear completely or add its own texture and presence intentionally. A roller shade disappears. A woven wood adds something. For this Briarcliff Manor sitting room, disappearing wasn’t the right answer – the design was too strong for a blank shade to feel right. The woven texture gives the windows a material quality that reads as intentional in a contemporary space without pulling focus from the art. The light filtering liner is the detail that makes it functional – western-facing rooms in Westchester get punishing afternoon sun from May through October, and that liner is what keeps the colors in the room looking the way they’re supposed to.

What window treatments work best for rooms with strong afternoon sun in Westchester, NY?

Western-facing rooms throughout Westchester – including sitting rooms and living spaces in Briarcliff Manor deal with intense afternoon sun from spring through fall. A woven wood shade with a light filtering liner is the ideal solution for design-forward spaces because it softens and diffuses the light rather than blocking it entirely. The room stays bright and warm without the glare or heat that makes an afternoon sitting room unusable.

Why motorized woven wood shades work in a statement room

Motorized woven wood shades bring natural texture to a room that already has strong color and art, and the motor keeps the look clean. There are no cords to hang in front of the artwork, and every shade moves together from a remote, an app, or a voice assistant. Light-filtering weaves glow softly, while a liner adds privacy or darkening when you want it.

Our woven shades page shows the range, and our Roman shades are a softer alternative. Hunter Douglas PowerView shows how motorization and app control work, and Norman is another brand we work with.
