Motorized Roman Shades in Greenwich, CT

Westchester Window Fashions

Westchester Window Fashions was called in near the end of a total home renovation in Greenwich, CT. The house had been rebuilt top to bottom, and the living room was the last space waiting on its finishing touch. To complete it, the homeowners wanted Roman shades for an elegant, elevated look – and these motorized Roman shades in Greenwich CT delivered exactly that.

The shades are Carole Fabrics Roman shades in a soft, tailored fabric that sits naturally against the stone fireplace and the room’s new finishes.

Roman shades bring something hard treatments can’t – real softness and texture at the window – and these give the room the elevated feel the renovation called for.

Motorization is Hunter Douglas PowerView: quiet, reliable, and simple to live with. One tap on the remote raises and lowers the full set in unison.

The room’s windows sit in a single run along one wall, so the shades were fabricated as a matched set – same fabric, same fold size, hung to one level line. A wall of windows this size is exactly where motorization earns its keep: instead of walking the room raising each shade by hand, one tap sets the whole wall. The rug was still wrapped when we installed – the final detail of a renovation that was ready to be lived in.

The detail that makes the room work is the mount. We installed the shades above the window, so when they’re fully raised the entire window is left exposed – full glass, full light, no fabric hanging in the view. Drop them, and the room turns soft and private in seconds.

Pro Tip from the Installer:

Mounting shades above the window instead of inside the frame takes one extra bit of planning: the raised stack has to clear the glass completely. Measure the finished stack height before the brackets go up, not after.

On the motorization side, we set PowerView scenes the way the room is actually used – every shade together for one clean motion, or individually when only part of the room needs coverage.

Local FAQ:

How much do motorized Roman shades in Greenwich CT cost?

Motorized Roman shades in Greenwich CT are priced by window dimensions, fabric selection, and the motorization system. A project like this one – Carole Fabrics shades with PowerView motorization across a living room wall – reflects custom fabrication on every opening. Call Westchester Window Fashions at 914-685-9336 to schedule your in-home consultation.

Why mount Roman shades above the window?

An above-window mount keeps the entire window exposed when the shades are raised – nothing hangs over the glass, and the room keeps every bit of its light and view. It’s the right call when the windows are part of the architecture, as they are in this renovated Greenwich living room.

Can Roman shades be motorized?

Yes – nearly any custom Roman shade can be motorized, and on wide or tall windows motorization is the practical choice. These motorized Roman shades in Greenwich CT run on Hunter Douglas PowerView, so the full wall of shades raises and lowers together from a single remote.
