In Ossining, this modern home was designed to embrace natural light with expansive, high-set windows. While the airy openness was a highlight, the abundant morning sun quickly became overwhelming, making it difficult for the homeowner to relax and enjoy the space. They loved the clean, minimalist aesthetic of shadeless windows but needed a solution that would allow them to block out light when necessary without altering the home’s sleek design.
During our consultation, we recommended Alta blackout roller shades paired with Somfy motorization. These shades could be fully concealed behind the home’s existing valance, ensuring the windows looked completely uncovered during the day. With one-touch control—or simple voice commands—the homeowner could enjoy full blackout conditions at any time without compromising the uncluttered look they valued.
This combination gave the homeowner a powerful yet discreet solution: the benefits of motorized blackout shades without any visible hardware or disruption to the room’s design.
The completed installation has given this Ossining home the best of both worlds—bright, open mornings when desired and restful, shaded privacy at the touch of a button. Now, the homeowner can comfortably enjoy the changing light throughout the day without sacrificing rest, comfort, or style. The shades enhance the daily living experience and long-term value by protecting interiors from harsh UV rays common to Westchester’s sunny seasons.
Photos and a video captured at the project site showcase how effortlessly the shades blend into the architecture—discreet during the day and delivering full blackout performance the moment they’re activated.
Custom window treatments aren’t just about covering glass—they’re about creating a home that works beautifully for the way you live. With motorized blackout solutions, you can enjoy light when you want it, privacy when you need it, and style at all times.
At Bloomin’ Blinds of White Plains, we combine design expertise with meticulous installation to deliver results that feel effortless and lasting. If you’re ready to explore what motorized shades or other custom treatments can do for your space, we’d love to help.
