Motorized Drapery and Roman Shades in Briarcliff, NY

Westchester Window Fashions was called into a Briarcliff, NY home to finish a modern contemporary bedroom. Every detail of the space had been considered – the wallpaper, the lighting, the furniture – and the windows were the last piece. The room didn’t need anything added to it. It needed to be finished.

The wallpaper is the room. A large-scale geometric pattern runs wall to wall in warm neutrals, and it reads like a piece of art. So the window treatments had one job: complement it, never compete with it.

The drapery is a custom camel fabric – warm, quiet, tailored. Hung full-length across the room’s main window on a motorized Kirsch track, the panels frame the glass and draw closed at the touch of a button. No cords, and no tugging at fabric this nice.

Behind the drapery, custom Roman shades handle the everyday light. They run on Somfy motorization – quiet, reliable, and simple to live with – so the shades and the drapery both move without anyone touching the fabric.

In a room this considered, the hardware had to disappear. The track mounts clean and high, so what you see is fabric and wallpaper, not equipment. That’s what finishing a room looks like: nothing added that the room didn’t ask for, and nothing left undone.

Pro Tip:

Motorized drapery needs power before it needs fabric. Plan the track location and the power supply early – before the walls close – so nothing shows when the room is done.

And when the walls are doing the talking, bring fabric samples into the room itself. A camel like this one was chosen against the wallpaper, in the room’s own light. That’s the only way to know a fabric will complement a pattern instead of fighting it.

Layering motorized drapery and Roman shades

Motorized drapery and Roman shades in Briarcliff, NY work best as a pair. The Roman shades sit closest to the glass and handle the daily job of controlling light and glare, while the drapery stands in front as the finished frame. Because both run on motors, the room keeps its lines clean: no cords, no wands, and no one handling the fabric every morning. Kirsch makes the kind of drapery track used here, and Somfy motors are what move the Roman shades.

Fabric matters as much as hardware. For a room with a patterned wallpaper, a solid, quiet cloth lets the walls lead. We pull from Carole Fabrics and other mills, and we bring the sample books to the house so you can hold each cloth against your own wall in your own light. Hunter Douglas also offers motorization through its PowerView system if you want shades that connect to an app or a voice assistant.

Planning the layers early keeps the install simple. The track location, the outlet or hardwired power, and the depth of the window recess are all decided before fabric is ordered, so nothing is a surprise on the day. Local FAQ:

How much do motorized drapery and Roman shades in Briarcliff, NY cost?

Motorized drapery and Roman shades in Briarcliff, NY are priced by window dimensions, fabric selection, and the motorization systems – in this project, a Kirsch motorized drapery track and Somfy shade motors. Every opening is custom fabricated. Call Westchester Window Fashions at 914-685-9336 to schedule your in-home consultation.

Can custom drapery be motorized?

Yes. Custom drapery runs beautifully on a motorized track – this Briarcliff project uses a Kirsch track, so the full-length panels open and close smoothly from a remote. It’s the right call for wide or tall windows, and for fabric you don’t want handled every day.

Why pair drapery with Roman shades?

Roman shades handle daily light control; drapery adds softness, warmth, and a finished frame around the window. In this Briarcliff bedroom, Somfy motorized Roman shades manage the light while the camel drapery completes the room – and since both are motorized, neither one gets touched.
