Roller Shades in Armonk, NY | Westchester Window Fashions Installation

Westchester Window Fashions

Westchester Window Fashions recently partnered with a homeowner in Armonk, NY, to solve a common design dilemma: balancing privacy with a love for natural light. This newly renovated home featured a massive living room window that acted as the centerpiece of the space. While the client loved the bright atmosphere, she felt exposed to the neighborhood and needed a solution that would “disappear” into the architecture rather than become a heavy focal point.

Located just a short drive from the Wampus Brook Park, this residence required a minimalist touch. We selected Norman Roller Shades in a crisp white fabric to perfectly complement the room’s soft, neutral palette. The chosen material features a subtle texture, adding a layer of sophisticated interest when viewed up close, while remaining clean and understated from a distance. These roller shades effectively diffuse harsh sunlight and provide total evening privacy while maintaining the airy, open feel of the renovation. By choosing a high-quality manufacturer like Norman Window Fashions, we ensured a smooth operation and a lifetime of durability for this high-traffic living area.

Expert Local Insight (The “Pro-Tip”)

In Armonk’s wooded and hilly landscape, homes often feature large glass expanses to capture the scenery. However, this often leads to significant UV exposure which can fade hardwood floors and furniture. When selecting roller shades for large Westchester living rooms, we recommend a high-performance light-filtering fabric. This allows you to maintain your “light-filled” aesthetic while protecting your interior investments. Opting for a neutral, textured white ensures the treatment remains timeless even if you update your interior decor colors in the future.

Local FAQ: Q

Can roller shades provide privacy at night without making the room feel dark during the day? A: Absolutely. For this Armonk project, we used a light-filtering fabric that allows soft, natural light to illuminate the home during the day while completely obscuring the view from the outside at night, ensuring the homeowner felt secure and private.
